#2093 Extension of the electronic filing deadline

Message from the CRA:

 

The NETFILE program will be open for transmissions on February 11, 2013, until January 17, 2014, for the electronic filing of your 2012 personal income tax and benefit return. Tax returns filed via NETFILE must first be prepared using a NETFILE-certified product.

You can transmit your returns using UFile for Windows until December 31st.

Hi,

I heard about the extension to the filing deadline, but Ufile for Windows (2012) doesn't allow me to submit.

It says "The government is no longer accepting electronically filed tax returns" under results. I don't have a netfile exclusion.

Could you let me know if the software been updated to allow filing until Dec 31, 2013? I'm on version 2012.1621

I am having the same problem. I contacted Ufile last night, here is their reply:

 

"Unfortunately, an update to UFile for Windows to allow the extension to January 17th 2014 would not be possible in a short time frame. Should you still want to send your return via NETFILE, we could provide you with a voucher that will allow you to rend it using our UFile ONLINE application. Please take note that you will have to reenter your information."

 

Not a satisfactory response at all. The Administrators posting above states:

"You can transmit your returns using UFile for Windows until December 31st."

This it seems is not true. 

 

I just spent significant time over the last few weeks inputting data into Ufile Windows so I can NETFILE. I have no idea why it is so difficult to continue NETFILE availability through UFIle windows? Perhaps Ufile will explain here?

This is crap.  How can they post you can use it until December 31st then not make it so.  It seems like such a small thing to do to update.  I think there are so few of us out there that need to do this it is not worth there time to make their customers happy.  I've been using UFile for the last 5 years.  Might be switching back to what I was using before due to this lousy customer service.

We should have the Ufile for Windows 2014 available in our boutique just before Christmas.

UFile for Windows will be available in many retail stores across Canada from January to the end of April.

NETFILE and EFILE certification is regularly obtained prior to the opening of the CRA’s electronic filing services in mid-February.

#12550 I cant fix errors

So UFILE tells me there are 2 errors that prevent me from filing anything.

When I press the button to go fix them it brings me to the self employed income page (the first page).

 

this is the error message:

 

Both fields must be filled.
This error prevents tax calculations. Click here to fix.

 

but there are no fields and when I check all the pages of the self-employed income section there are no fields indicated as errors.

What is wrong with this thing?

 

Please help.

I've figured out a work around to this problem. 

 

It occurred to me that UFile uses the date on your computer so I manually changed the date on my computer back to a time when netfile would have worked.  I used August 1, 2013.  I then opened ufile, went to my results page and it allowed me to netfile.  However, when I tried to do an automatic netfile I ran into some troubles on the cra website with certificate errors or something like that which I suspect was due to the faulty date on my computer.  So I clicked the manual netfile button which allows you to save the .TAX file to your harddrive.  Then I changed my computer's date back to the proper date, went to the cra netfile website and manually submitted my return with no problems.

 

Hope this works for all of you.

Ufile is getting quite horrible.

 

- The help is completely useless, often consisting of a single line that just repeats the field's title.

 

- The navigation is bad, there is no way to search for a topic and have the application jump to the right page.

 

- Stupid bugs.  For example, the "A response indicating whether you are a Canadian citizen is required" error.

 

- SimpleTax is free.

True that there is basic help, but how do you get help when the software is making a mistake?  Adding the question to this forum doesn't get UFile response. Who can you call or email or chat with or somehow get help?

This new interface stinks big time. I've been using this program for several years and was always happy with it. Why fix something if it isn't broken? Now I'm dealing with this major password issue with the latest update. Time to look for another program.

Please try the following:

 

Go under ‘’Interview’’ tab and ‘’File progression’’ on the left side menu and remove every dates entered. Leave the page blank.

I really miss the Review screen from previous versions of UFile (2014 for example) - where it would show amounts on specific lines of return (very useful when you read CRA information and they use "line numbers") for both spouses side by side and I could confirm that the totals are correct, what was assigned to whom, what numbers were in previous year to compare etc.

 

I find new Summary screen not providing much information that I want. I had no problem scrolling down the screen in previous versions to see the totals for refund/owe or tax saving ideas - now I see them, but nothing else....

 

I have to say that this will make me look at other tax software for next year.

 

I also agree with another post that pointed out how some help entries are useless and only repeat the question text, without giving any information nor link to where to find the explanation for the topic.

#11331 TY2015 doesn't carry information from past tax year anymore?

I have been using ufile since 2011.

Today I logged in and created 2015 TY file and to my surprise all my past year's information is not pre-populated. Basically I will have to re-enter everything including my name, sin, my spouse's information, past tax year information. This is really annoying.

 

But prior years (2014 and before) still have my complete information.

 

Please help. Thanks.

I have the same problem. My federal and Quebec went successfully but the Quebec return for my husband is with the same error message as you. Hope they will guide us through.
