  1. I have been unable to figure out how to disable the Climate Action Incentive when you do not qualify for it.  If you do not put anything in the box in the "CRA Questions Section" the program still applies the credit on line 449.

On Page 2 of the Schedule 14, Line 6114, the schedule states that you did not reside outside of a Metropolitan Area on Dec 31 2018, which is correct.

The only way I am able to stop it from applying the credit is to answer yes to the Diplomat Question.

Does anyone have a workaround fro this issue?

When you press the ? Button:

For the purpose of the CAI supplement for residents of small and rural communities, you must have resided outside of a census metropolitan area (CMA) on December 31, 2018, as defined by Statistics Canada in the last census they published before 2018.

Therefore, you cannot claim the supplement for residents of small and rural communities if your principal place of residence was located in one of the following:

    New Brunswick CMAs:

    • Moncton, or
    • Saint John

    Ontario CMAs:

    • Barrie,
    • Belleville,
    • Brantford,
    • Greater Sudbury,
    • Guelph,
    • Hamilton,
    • Kingston,
    • Kitchener-CambridgeWaterloo,
    • London,
    • Oshawa,
    • the Ontario part of Ottawa-Gatineau,
    • Peterborough,
    • St. Catharines-Niagara,
    • Thunder Bay,
    • Toronto, or
    • Windsor.

    Manitoba CMA:

    • Winnipeg.

    Saskatchewan CMAs:

    • Saskatoon or
    • Regina.

  2. In the "CRA Questions" Section there is a new question added "Climate Action Incentive".  I have not yet figured out how this all works as when you put your city in from the drop down box, the program still applies the credit.

The only way to stop the credit from being applied if you do not qualify is to answer YES that you were a diplomat.

I have yet to be able to find the actual answer to this question, it appears to give the credit no matter what your answer is.
