  1. Question 1: You will have to request a re-assessment by RQ. Question 2. Due to recent system changes to UFile, to return to prior years you may use this link https://secure.drtax.ca/ufile/login.aspx or log into UFile and select Prior Tax Year application from the text in the preamble at the top of the screen.
  2. You will have to logout of this file and UFile to enter another or new UFile account.
  3. There were server issues last evening. They have since been corrected. Thanks for your patience.
  4. Hello Jim, Are you using UFile ONLINE or desktop?
  5. Hi MM, No, CRA will want your wife to pay while you wait for your refund.
  6. If you have paid for a tax year, you will never be asked by UFile to pay a second time -- ever. Here are the possible reasons why this could be happening: You thought you paid for last year but you did not. You are no longer eligible for a Free return. For example, last year was free because of your income or income types and since then you changed your return. Now, your return is no longer qualified for Free. You have entered the wrong user name and password and are using the wrong account.
  7. Revenu Quebec has also extended the deadline to concur.
  8. In English: Revenue Quebec has pushed the tax filing deadline back to midnight May 5th. This concurs with the decision of CRA to do the same.
  9. Hi Erny, I sent you a link to download the 2014 .exe
  10. Public transit amount - Line 364 You can claim a non-refundable credit for expenses incurred during the year for public transit if they meet the eligibility criteria. You may claim the cost of monthly public transit passes or passes of longer duration, such as an annual pass. Public transit includes bus, streetcar, subway, train, shuttle and local ferry. Hi Sylina, I wasn't sure about the answer to this one so I went to the "Ask UFile" Virtual assistant and enter Transit. Here's what I found: To enter the cost of your public transit pass, please follow these steps: 1. In the "QuikClik Navigator", located on the left-hand side of the screen, click on "Other deductions". 2. On the page to the right, click on "Schedule 1 line 364 - Amount for cost of public transit passes". 3. Enter the cost of transit passes that you paid for each type of public transit that applies. Please DO NOT re-enter in this section the amount shown in box 84 of the T4 slip because doing so would double your amount and you would be likely to receive a notice of reassessment from the CRA. Only you or your spouse can claim the cost of public transit passes for yourself as well as for your children under the age of 19 years on December 31st of the taxation year. The amount can be claimed by either of the spouses at your discretion.
  11. Hello, there is no need to re-install. In order to use NETFILE with the UFile program, a volunteer needs to purchase UFile for Windows at Staples (Bureau en Gros), Future Shop, Best Buy, The Source and Jean Coutu, across Canada or at www.ufile.ca. A Standard activation key, which provides NETFILE capability, is associated with the UFile consumer product. All what is required is then to add the key to the already installed UFile CVITP program.

You tax return can only be NETFILED once per tax year. The T1Adj must be filed on paper, sadly. Another option is to use My Account. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/myaccount/ They have a great tool for adjusting a tax return that has been filed.
  13. Thanks for the post, Erny. Let us know if you find any roadblocks at all.
  14. There is no need to download the .tax file making the NETFILE process much simpler. If you look at the Tax diagnostics section of the .pdf you will see a couple of pages called "EFILE federal return record these record the fields sent to the CRA for NETFILE and replace the .tax file. I hope this helps.
  15. Sorry you are having trouble with the contact us page. What browser are you using? You can also get support from within your product under Help. UFile will calculate the portion to apply to home office expenses. Enter the whole amount of the expense and enter the percentage of PERSONAL USE of the home in the field provided. Tax preparation expenses are deductible and are entered in the "business expenses" section of the business income for form under Accounting and other professional fees. This way they are deducted at 100% rather than exposed to the personal use of home calculation.
