I just installed the latest version (188.8.131.52, install file version 184.108.40.206), of UFile 2016, on a Vista SP2 machine and I am unable to use the software due to the following issue: Trying to use any of the drop-down menus in any of the gateways present in the left-side menu, of the Interview tab, will result in the following error message: "Oops, something has gone wrong! Would you like to start the Support assistant to receive assistance on this issue?" This error will pop up immediately when you select the following gateways: Identification; CRA Question; and, NetFile. An attempt to use a drop-down menu needs to be made once before the error message will pop up on these gateways: Current Address; and, Controls. Although I have Vista "SP2", the OS is not up to date and it is, of course no longer possible to update it. I have .Net Framework 4.5.2 installed, the minimum being, I believe 4.5.1. Has anyone any thoughts on this issue? 15Mar'18 - ADDENDUM: It turns out it is not so much the drop-down list itself that is at issue, but the inability of the software to populate the associated fields. The first time I encountered the aforementioned error was following an attempt to import data from a TurboTax file. I just realized that the same fields that were not successfully populated, during the import, had those same drop-down lists. Having said that, the issue exists whether I start a new tax file by importing data or by trying to enter the carry-forward figures manually for a new, empty tax file.
I notice that myself, and many others have had issues with Ufile 2016 not importing information from Ufile 2015. Ufile use to respond fairly quickly in the past but not sure what has happened that this year their service is terrible. In addition, someone I know called up Canada Revenue and was informed that one particular carry forward amount was way off so I decided to investigate further. Today I have found out that Ufile is 'not' on the list of certified softwares for 2017 netfile purpose. My suggestion is that people may want to run their taxes through a second software. I have used Ufile (Windows Version) for over five years now, but this is the one year that amounts in the '2015 Summary of Carryforward' have not been transferred to 2016 Ufile. Basic information like name, social ins# got carried forward but not these amounts despite two attempts at carrying over last years information. Amounts in CNIL; RRSP and unused Tuition Amounts have not been carried forward. I sent an email to support and all I received back was a list of links that suggested I read further. Non of these links were of any help. Prior to this I was using an older version of Windows, so I am not sure if this has something to do with this issue. Can you offer a solution as all I want is to make sure that the amounts are allocated to the correct Tax Form line. Thank you
