Updater engine is not installed

So what happens to the version that I installed off the CD after I download the above update?

Will I be asked for the activation key?

If I am, will it work given that I have already used the activation key that was on the CD once?

I find this a bit annoying that I have to go through this forum for what appears to be a software issue that has been reported by more than one subscriber.

I sent in a request to your Technical Support a couple of days ago and have yet to receive a reply.

Hello

I downloaded the above and when the installer came up clicked on repair.  In the next screen I clicked on the repair button.  Got the message "An error occured iinstalling the package.  Windows installer returned 1612" Clicked ok and now i am in a loop.  I had a problem once before that i never could get fixed.  I cannot use my UFile 2007 because it does not like my version of internet explorer.  Do I need to have an actual copy of the 2012 CD sent to me to fix this problem??

Chandra

To resolve this problem, Microsoft suggests uninstalling the program in question, in this case UFile, using their "Fix it" utility, and then reinstalling the program.

For information about how to download, install, and use the "Microsoft Fix it" utility, consult the following articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325084/

After removing the UFile program using the "Microsoft Fix it" utility, you may reinstall UFile again.

Hello,

I purchased Ufile 2013 from Staples, I installed it from the CD and when I try to check for program updates I get the following error:

"The updater engine is not installed on this system"

Please advise.

Thanks

I have just installed Ufile for Windows 2013 (12 user), downloaded from Ufile today (March 20, 2014). I have this same problem: "The updater engine is not installed on this system" I Downloaded from the link in the earlier message in this thread (2013 file); tried "Repairing"; that did not work; tried uninstalling & reinstalling - - that did not work either.  Would be very grateful if someone can help. Is it possible to download update files manually from the Ufile website?

I have followed your instructions and I get the following message, "An error occured installing this package. Windows installer returned '1612'".  What does this mean and how do I fix it?

It took a bit of time to figure this out because one of the articles were technical and one related to XP Office Service pack which had me scratching my head.  I am not as technical as the articles are but luckily by running Microsoft Fit It (by going through the option showing I was having installation issues) and selecting UFile, Micorsoft Fix it uninstalled it.  Then I reinstalled it and it was good to go.

Thanks for answering my query.
