I got "Not eligibled to file your federal return using net File"

Recommended Posts

I'm getting the same message and here is the complete message that I'm getting -

You cannot currently NetFile your federal return. Please review the following reasons, and make corrections where possible. If an (*) appears at the end of an explanation below, it denotes a NetFile exclusion (i.e. your return cannot be transmitted).

The total of your PIPP insurable earnings exceeds $2000 and you have no PIPP premiums (T4 box 55).

There is no * at the end of the explanation, and I have reviewed the CRA page mentioned and the PIPP issue I have is not listed as a reason for refusing my return to be NetFiled.

This looks like an issue with the NetFile software to me.

The amount shown in Box 55 of your T4 slip represents your contributions to the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP, or PPIP in other provinces).

If no amount is displayed in Box 55 of your T4, and your earned income is greater than $ 2,000, the following message will appear in the "Results" section of the program : "The total of your PPIP insurable earnings exceeds $ 2000 and you have no PPIP premiums (T4 box 55)".

In addition, the program will inform you that "You cannot currently NetFile your federal return".

You may contact the issuer of the T4 slip for more information.

The QPIP is administered by the Ministère de l'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale (MESS) to allow a salaried employee to receive financial benefits if he or she takes a maternity, paternity or adoption leave.

I have the same thing for my wife's tax return.

She has no earned income in 2013 as she was on preventative/maternity - however still has over $3000 in taxable income due to stocks and private health plan.

any idea how to fix this?

I went and looked at box 55 and 56 and there was nothing entered....   so I added a 0.00 in both and the message went away.

Not sure what the impact will be but.......    I am a worker working outside quebec.... the quebec return will calculate the PIPP I owe.....  my employer does not put anything under 55 and 56 because there is no PIPP in Ontario.... adding the zeros bypassed the error and let me file.....
