Read only .u12 file that isn't ?

Recommended Posts

Have been a long time uFile fan going back > 10yrs.  Works great.   But have encountered an odd glitch in past few weeks.  When trying to open an existing .u12 file I'm told the file is ReadOnly and am warned that I'll need to save with a new name.   But I've checked the file attribute, and the u12 file isn't marked read only.  Nor have I ever experienced this in 10 yrs with lots of uFile files.   Nor is the file on a CD Rom -- it is in a hard disk directory.   I believe this behaviour started after I did one of the uFile auto-program-updates at lauch (but can't be sure).

Anyone else seen this?   Any ideas?  Thanks.

You can try to reinstall the software to see if it helps.

Please make sure you have no other applications running during this process.

To remove UFile for Windows follow these instructions:

1. Go to "Start".
2. Go to "Settings".
3. Select "Control Panel".
4. In the "Control Panel", select "Add/Remove Programs".
5. Locate UFile 2012 and click "Remove".
6. Locate UFile Updater 2012 and click "Remove".

To reinstall:

2. Save it to your Desktop, then run (re-install) it from there.
