Claiming UCCB

Recommended Posts

I'm a single parent and claim my 9-year-old. I receive the UCCB.

Under the controls for my daughter, i tick the box that says i want to claim all UCCB received in 2015.  I then get an error message saying she has claimed income and i have to tick that box for her.
Can i claim income for a 9-year-old?

Many thanks.

Yes you can claim the UCCB income for your dependant but you do not transmit his/her tax return. Make sure to choose ''Yes'' this dependant have any income in 2015 under the identification.This amount will be shown under L185 of your tax return which represent the UCCB amount designated to a dependant.

If you were a single parent on December 31st of the taxation year, you must enter the amount of the ''RC62 slip - Universal Child Care Benefit statement'' of your file. Three (3) options are available to you:

A- You can include the UCCB amount in the file of a person who is eligible for the credit on line 305.

B- If you cannot claim the credit on line 305, you can include the UCCB amount in the file of the admissible child;

C- You can include the UCCB amount in your tax return.
