Principle Residence Designation Issue

Recommended Posts

My spouse and I sold a house in 2016 that was my principle residence. I am reporting the sale on my schedule 3. I only owned the one property.

On my return, under line 179 (Principle residence designation) ufile marked I have multiple properties (option 3) and then listed the same property twice.  All information is the same (ie. address, year of acquisition, and proceeds of disposition) for both properties listed.

How do I have ufile mark line 179 - option 1, and list only the one property sold. Does it have something to do with filing jointly with my spouse who is claiming the same thing (50% of proceeds to each of us)? Of note, my spouse's tax return has the same issue.
