Is NR4 same as T4A?

Recommended Posts

Apologies if this is a repeat question.

Situations are slightly different for people hence the question.

Is NR4 same as that of T4A slip?

I am a non resident of Canada but I hold a bank account and have received NR4 slips.

Filing for 2016 Tax using UFile, I realized that there is no such thing as NR4.

I have read the previous posts in the forum re: NR4/ T4A.

Since I am not getting dealing with pension or old age security presently, do I still need to check the box for Pension that has T4A listed as an option?

Thank you for guidance.

The issue depends on the specific tax treaty between Canada and your country of residence. The NR4 is sometimes declared with your income tax return of your country of residence as foreign income. I don't believe that the NR4 can be part of a Canadian tax return, unless your residency status is subdivided among two countries in a partial year.
