Federal Taxable Benefit

Recommended Posts

UFile is attributing my spouse's federal taxable dividends to me rather than to him. The instructions in the Messages section of the Review state simply to "See line 120 in the CRA T1 guide for details" which offer "Tax Tips: In some cases, it may be better for you to report all the taxable dividends your spouse or common-law partner received from taxable Canadian corporations. You can do this only if it allows you to claim or increase your claim for the spouse or common-law partner amount on line 303 of your Schedule 1. If you choose this option, do not include these dividends in your spouse's or common-law partner's income." However, we don't want me to claim ALL; we want him to claim his and not attribute them to me. I have no federal taxable dividends of my own. We want him to claim his federal taxable dividends on his tax return. How can we configure the software for him to claim his own on his return and not attribute them to me on mine?
