  1. Hi there -- last year for a month, my spouse was in hospital recovering from surgery. Based on what I saw on the CRA site, this applies here:

You can claim the childcare expenses as the person with the higher income if one of the following applies to your spouse or common-law partner: b. they were not capable of caring for children because of an impairment in physical or mental function. They must have been confined for a period of at least two weeks to a bed or wheelchair, or as a patient in a hospital, or other similar institution. A statement from the attending physician certifying this information must be attached to the spouse's or common-law partner's claim.

I do indeed have such a statement from the attending physician, so I'm good there. But how do I make this happen in Ufile online?

  2. Hey all -- I'm filling some bits and pieces in my ufile online return, and now that the simple home office expenses deduction has gone away, I have to use the detailed one. I'm looking at this page here I'm confused by the bottom one: "Taxes". A few lines above it they've got a "Property Taxes (commission employees only)" line, so I'm assuming I can't claim property taxes as I'm salaried. So what does that little "Taxes" line at the very bottom mean? Taxes paid on heat, electricity, phone, etc? Or is it property taxes for salary employees and I'm misinterpreting? Or is it something else entirely?
