  1. I sold my USD money market fund in 2023 and had a capital loss. The Cost of book value (box 20) is higher than the Proceeds of disposition (box 21) on my T5008 .
However, when I entered the foreign exchange rate in ufile on the T5008 page, the exchange rate is only applied to the proceeds of disposition, and not on the cost/book value, which results in a capital GAIN.
Is there any way to fix it please? Thanks a lot.

  2. I am filing a tax return for my (deceased) father for 2023. I understand that I will have to print it out and sign it. The only place for a signature has the following above it:
"I certify that the information given on this return and in any attached documents is correct, complete and fully discloses all of my income."
which doesn't mention anything about signing on behalf of the deceased person. Is this where I sign?
    Thank you.

  3. Hello,
My parents have been filing their tax returns together in the past, with my dad being the family head and my mom being the spouse.
My dad passed away last year so my mother will be filing it on his behalf (she's the executor of his estate). Do we need to change my mom to be the family head?
    Thank you.

  4. Thanks a lot for your response John.  That's very helpful.
I would like to file electronically so I will have to report it as foreign dividends.  Since I didn't get a T5, should I report it under "Foreign income or foreign property"-> "Income from foreign dividends" on ufile?
And, my understanding is, if I reported the spin-off as foreign dividend, I will no longer need to adjust the cost base on my IBM and KYNDRYL shares when I sell them is that right?
    Thanks again!

  5. I held some IBM shares in 2021, and received some spin-off shares for KYNDRYL.
I only received a T5008 from my broker, which only shows the date and number of units. Does anyone know where I should report it (in Ufile) please?
    Thanks a lot!
