TimL
Looking for some guidance concerning filing for couples who separated in the current tax year, Which one would use the base spousal amount ($13,808) as net income for the other spouse in the Ex-spouse Interview set-up, and which one should claim the lower-than-base amount for net income (i.e, time married prior to separation)? In other words, does the higher wage earner claim the base amount or the lower amount? It appears whoever claims the base amount ($13808) for line 30300, their refund, if applicable, is reduced.
