CTA
Getting a message saying that the amount in box 48 has to be reported in corresponding business self-employment income. However I filled out T125P and getting the error message. Is there another place to enter the amount that I missed?
Duane Smith
I have same issue/ error message with T2125 section. Were you able to resolve your issue? HOw?
Bwhyton
I have the same issue. I placed the income on other employment income
TheTaxSmith
Look one comment down on this board. I just posted this for another request. On the self-employment schedule did you enter the amount from Box 48 as Fees for services (T4A) only and no where else on that schedule? Also you need to open up a T4A and complete the data entry for Box 48. That T4A slip you need to enter does not carry over to the income statement. It is for information purposes only. Baynerj
I have the same issue. I've entered the income in Box 48 of the T4A as well as in the T2125 on the line for box 48. But the program isn't recognizing it and won't let me Netfile.... @TheTaxSmith's answer did not seem to help me on this one. My problem is the same as everyone else is reporting
Baynerj
Also noticed this - The income I've recorded in T2125 is 'invisible' when I return to this schedule - it does not show up in the cell until I put my mouse over top of the cell - at which point it appears again. So I'm wondering if there is a glitch that is causing it to not be seen or captured somehow.
TheTaxSmith
I just tested the software by entering an amount for Box 48 in a single T4A slip then entering the same amount on the T2125P schedule on the line for Box 48 services. All works as expected. However if by chance the business is a co-ownership with a spouse you need to also complete a T4A with the same information in the spouse's return. If not you will get a data error warning preventing netfiling. Any chance that is the problem?
Baynerj
Hi @TheTaxSmith Thanks for the reply. The business is a sole proprietorship. Do you have the same issue with the 'phantom cell'. When I go into the T2125P and enter into Box 48 - once I hit next and then return to the T2125 - The amount in Box 48 does not appear (it's blank) until I hover over it with my mouse at which time it suddenly appears again. Also - The warning about not being able to Netfile does not show up when I am in Interview with these amounts entered. It only shows up once I click to Review. TheTaxSmith
Hi Baynerj, I tried to replicate that situation and did not see what you are seeing. I have the windows version and its resident on my system (not an on-line version). I suspect you have already tried to remove the T4A, exit the system and saving the file with the T4A removed, then reenter the file and add a T4A again? Baynerj
Hi @TheTaxSmith So I just tried the following Removed the T4A Removed the T2125P Saved, exited, and logged out Opened again and completed the T4A and the T2125 Once I finish the T4A I get the warning that I must also complete the T2125 Once I finish the T2125 the warning goes away But as soon as I click "Review" the warning returns and it says I'm ineligible to Netfile. This seems to be the same problem others are experiencing. Any next steps you would suggest at this point?
TheTaxSmith
Ok maybe its something that needs to go through the Calculation process. Try Calculating/Viewing the return. (the 4th Tab).
Baynerj
I figured it out. The issue was - The amount in Box 48 of the T2125 has to be the exact same amount as Box 48 on the T4A. I had more professional income than was on the T4A and was including all of it in that same box. Once I moved that income to a different income line in the T2125 (thus making Box 48 the EXACT amount that was in the T4A) the error message went away. Phew!
