Favouritesnail Posted April 19, 2022 Report Posted April 19, 2022 My wife and I separated (using CRA's definition of separation) last year. I've always used ufile to file our returns, and those of our dependent daughters. Can U-file cope with this situation in one ufile account, or do I need to have a second ufile account now in order to file my return separately from the other 3 (I moved out)? Quote
TheTaxSmith Posted April 19, 2022 Report Posted April 19, 2022 You need separate files otherwise the deductions and credits will not work properly. Also you will have errors in the file due to claiming separate but having an attached spouse. Look at the Federal deduction for a dependent for each of you. Based on the custody arrangement you may be able take advantage of this for the current year and the future. Favouritesnail 1 Quote
