MFereshtehpour
Hi everyone, I emigrated to Canada in the last days of 2021 in order to begin my postdoctoral research position on January 1, 2022. Now my issue is how I can submit my 2021 tax return. I have only been in Canada for two days in 2021. Should I report my income from my nation of origin? If yes, where should this be reflected? In the part on foreign income? Thanks for your helps, Mohammad
Maggie3
Hello MFereshtehpour, If you lived in Canada for only part of the year, 2 days in 2021, you would file an Income Tax and Benefit Return if you: have to pay tax for the year want to claim a refund want to get benefit and credit payments For more information on when and why to submit a tax return, please refer to the link below to the Canada Revenue Agency website: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/international-non-residents/individuals-leaving-entering-canada-non-residents/newcomers-canada-immigrants.html#nwc
