  2. Can I call someone for help in the morning?
  3. Does UFile Windows (or another product from same publisher) support creating a tax return for an estate? Not final return for deceased individual (I know how to do that), but for income earned after death. The person died early in 2024, so there will be a final T1 for invite received from 1/1/24 to date of death (DoD). It should be straightforward, the bank says even if they cash all the deceased's GICs and transfer to beneficiaries today , there's going to be a T5 for interest earned from DoD to today (no other slips). They're considering leaving some GICs in the estate (better rate than offered now) so there could be a T5 in 2025 too. If cost of preparing estate return is too much, might cash all now, but still need a way to do an estate return for 2024 no matter what. Does UFile or another product support this, or if not, is it easy enough to do a paper return? Thanks
  4. It does not open - says cannot add any more pages of this type?
  5. Hi, I am having a problem trying to add an amount to line 25300. how do I apply net capital loss from previous years to this year - loss occurred in 2012
  6. I am entering a T3 slip for my mother in law. It has 6 boxes to enter. But the dividend income would 100% pop up on my father in law's T1 and everything else goes to my mother in law's T1. If I enter a big interest income on that slip such as $10k, it would bring the dividend income back to my mother in law. Why is there such an issue. How can we fix it?
  7. Hi, How do we calculate CCA for uber business?
  8. Is Ufile for Windows able to to T746 deduction of unused RRSP contributions?
  9. We sold our principle residence last year. It was a duplex/semi with two equal units - one our principle residence and one a rental unit. I'm having trouble figuring out how to enter this situation on Ufile. Ufile support hasn't been any help, only telling me to just claim it all as our principle residence which I know isn't right. I have a basic idea of what the CRA expecations are, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this on Ufile online. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  10. I am prepare a return for my mother in law and and father in law. I am entering the T3 slip for my mother in law (individual account). All other boxes shows on my mother in law's T1. But the dividend amount from box 49 goes to my father in law. How to fix this bug?
  11. Hi, hoping someone can help. My spouse and I became legally common-law married in May 2023 then he passed away due to cancer in Sept 2023. I am the Ufile account head, I've added him as a spouse on my Ufile acct. When I enter marital status as "Widowed" and "Changed. Then on the "Marital Status Change" page I enter "Taxpayer Widowed", Ufile will generate the tax returns and says that I can e-file my tax return and my kids. I know I have to send my spouses return in by mail. BUT when click on "File return" for myself I get a CRA error that says I cannot e-file because of Schedule 6. I've indicated that I'm widowed and not married or common-law. Do I file the 2023 return as if my spouse did not pass and just indicate my marital status as "Common-law" and "Changed" then on the "Marital Status Change" page I enter "no spouse, then common-law"? Then file a deceased final return for my spouse and myself as a widow for 2024? Ufile error msg 2023.pdf
  12. I have double-checked the SIN, if I save the document and then go to file at a different date, then it won't e-file I don't file until payment has been received If I re-do the file then I have to use another one of my codes. Is there any way around this and just attach another document number to this?

  14. sorry that doesn't make sense. we have a shared bank account so all the expenses would be shared. we moved together so it still sounds like i just experiment assigning the expenses to see back and forth to see how to use the deductions most effectively?
  15. Hello Glaurica, No, you must allocate your moving expenses according to who incurred them and allocate the shared expenses. You can not optimize these expenses.
  16. Hi - How do you enter a foreign income loss? The program won't allow for ($) or -$... This is for funds held in a bank account outside of Canada.
  17. is there an easy way to do this? for rsp contributions ufile maximizes who it should go to. it sounds like your saying i have to go back and forth and try different expenses with each person and keep track of what gets us the most refund
  18. Hello Glaurica, If you are both claiming the moving you will need to enter the deduction in each of your files and calculate / allocate the moving expenses for each of you, with the relevant income information. Do not duplicate the entries in each file.
  19. Hello Sumi If you have an unused contribution to your RRSP from the first 60 days of 2023, *the reporting method will depend on the actual situation.* **If the amount was reported in 2022 and not used in 2022**, therefore carried over to 2023, then it is an unused contribution and the UFile program would have carried it over to 2023. Complete this section only if an amount of Unused contributions is shown on your latest federal 2022 Notice of assessment or Notice of reassessment. ***IF you have a RRSP from the first 60 days of 2023, and it was never reported before***, then you have to make an adjustment to your 2022 tax return or if you successfully NetFiled your 2022 tax return you can ReFILE your 2022 return after you have made the entry into your 2022 return. OTHERWISE Generally, you have to pay a tax of 1% per month on excess contributions that exceed your RRSP/PRPP deduction limit by more than $2,000 unless you: withdrew the excess amounts. contributed to a qualifying group plan If you over-contribute $2,000 or less to your RRSP, you cannot deduct those excess contributions from your taxable income, but you are not charged a penalty on those contributions either. Excess contributions over the $2,000 mark, however, are charged a penalty. For further clarification please consult a tax advisor or the CRA. Please contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 CRA https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/corporate/contact-information.html
  20. Hello SusanBR, Please contact UFile Support so we may review the account and payments. Please include above note. Please open a request ticket on-line at https://www.ufile.ca/contact/contact-us
  21. We qualify for moving expenses deduction because we moved closer to my husband's work. I called CRA to see if I could claim again my income as well as I also switched jobs after the move. CRA said yes I can. My question is how to do this in Ufile. I don't want to duplicate deductions by making entering all the moving expenses under both of our files. Currently I just have the moving expenses claimed under my husband's. So where I have to enter the net income earned after moving, can I combine both of our incomes under my husband's file? Trying to keep things as simple as possible and avoid duplicate deductions. Thanks!
  22. Hi Clw, Thanks very much for your information! great community and helpful people:) Liana
  23. Hello schazia, Please see below. >> >>
  24. Hi Geo, Thanks for the response. This is a copy of the steps from another post from last year with the same question. I commented on that post that step 10 creates another line with additional years as principal residence, not a rental period. There is no place on this form to identify rental period. Additionally, even if I add another occupancy period, I don't get the line for sec. 284/286.1 in step 11. I've attached screen print of sections of the forms, excluding details of the property (i.e. address, financial info). I'm at a loss as to where you're seeing these 2 items. Could you please provide more specific instructions for steps 10 & 11 as to where I should find them. Thanks. Ufile issue - sale of rental property with PRE claim.pdf
