2023 Filing Does Not Pull 2022 Family Head or Members

JSP

Recommended Posts

I've been using UFile for years, but this year when I created my filing for 2023 and lauched it, after a few minutes I saw the Identification screen, and it said "Family Head" instead of showing a separate tab for me, my wife, and my children, like it has for all of the past years when I used UFile. Am I missing a step? Is something broken? Anybody else experiencing this?

Hello JSP,

If you wish to ensure that the carryforward information is  indeed carried forward to the following year, then save your previous years completed  tax return to PDF and resave the file.  This action will ensure all carry forward information / amounts are carried forward to the next tax year.

Please note you should only  perform this action, saving to PDF,  prior to starting your new tax return. If you carry forward a previous year to a  file that has been completed, you risk overwriting the information already in your file.
Please follow these steps:
From the “My Files ” main menu first delete the current/new  tax year.
Launch the previous year’s return and go to the “Tax Return” tab 4.
On the bottom of the Tax Return tab click on “Download PDF”
Then click on “settings” in the upper right corner and “Save and Close”
The page will jump to the “My Files” main menu.
Create the new tax year by selecting “Create a new…” and click “Go!”
Launch the new tax year and your information should be carried forward.
Note: if you have paid for your tax return and you delete the file, the payment will also be deleted.  In this case, please contact us and we will provide a voucher to replace the deleted payment.

Hello Geo123 admin, I followed your steps on Microsoft Edge browser and it still doesnt work. When I go create 2023 returns, it still shows Family Head instead of myself and rest of dependents.
When I launch 2023, it asks if I want to Start Now or Import existing file, which I cannot choose because I've always done my taxes with ufile online and dont have an exported file to import.

Just tried this, and I could PDF both mine and my wife's return, but not my kids who don't have a return--but it said there was an error with the kids' returns, but when I went to the review screen, there were no errors.

Created the 2023 file and got an error message that said "Nullable object must have a value." 10 minutes later the screen has not finished loading.

Any idea what's going on?

This is an absolutely astonishing collapse of software that used to be dependable and work flawlessly.

When I view my children's return I see the message about an error existing and to check the Review section (first image).

In the review section for each of my children, everything is OK and green (second image).
