Gaetan
If you received an RL-1 slip with an amount shown in Box O, this income is not included in the amount of Box A (employment income before source deductions). You should verify the meaning of the specific code that relates to Box O, which can be found in the box located on the right side of Box W. The list of codes and their meaning is shown in the instructions section of the RL-1 slip under the group entitled "Codes used in the "Code (case O)" box".Each code will explain the type of income earned and will refer to the appropriate line of the Quebec return where this amount should be entered. TheTaxSmith
Hi goldielox. You may have selected the wrong slip in the Interview section. Go back and look under the Pension Income area. Select the first item "T4A - Pension, retirement, annuity, and other income" and add that slip. Then once you access the added slip "T4A and pension income" scroll down and look for "Other Information". Using the drop down box look for "Other Assistance (Box code RS). Here is an instruction from an earlier software year that can help. You received an RL-1 slip with an amount in Box O and code RS, because you obtained financial assistance. To report this amount, please follow the steps below: 1- On the "Left side menu on the Interview tab", select "Interview setup". 2- On the screen on your right, go to the "Pension" group, check the box for "Pension income. Other income and split pension income (T4A, T4A(OAS), T4A(P), T4A-RCA, T4RSP, T4RIF, T1032)" and click "Next" at the bottom of the page. 3- Return to the "Left side menu on the Interview tab" and select "T4A and pension income". On the right-hand side page, choose "T4A - Pension, retirement, annuity, and other income". 4- On the page that appears entitled "T4A - Pension, retirement, annuity and other income", go to line "Other information (click on the triangle to see the list of choices)" located in the middle of the page. Then, from the drop-down menu, choose the option "Other assistance" and enter the amount shown on your T4A slip. 5- For Quebec residents: If the amount in Box O of the RL-1 differs from the one shown on the T4A slip, click on the "Maple Leaf" next to the corresponding federal box and a new box will be displayed where you can enter the amount for Quebec. This box will only appear if you have entered the federal amount first. 6- If you have not received a T4A slip, enter $0.00 for the federal amount and click on the "Maple Leaf" icon to enter the amount from Box O of the RL-1 slip. The amount will be transferred by the program to line 13000 of the federal return and line 154 of the Quebec return, and Code 02 will be entered on Quebec line
