  1. If you search on the subject, you will find I reported the same thing about 10 days ago. There indeed is a bug in Ufile and I was told it is scheduled to be fixed and released on April 3rd. So I would download the update on April 4th (or whenever it is released) and try at that time and see if it is still an issue. Good luck!
  2. Thanks for your response @Geo123 I have talked to both the CVITP Help Desk (who deal with error messages) and the CVITP phone support line (which fast tracks us to Revenue Canada agents) and have verified for the Head of Family (HOF) that there is nothing wrong with his account and the software should NOT be giving the "Filing Tax for first time" error message as he has filed previously. As there is NO functional message for the HOF's partner, the CRA agent told me to contact UFILE about both issues. I had e-mailed about this issue from the tax return to your support desk about 8 hours prior to posting this in the forum yesterday. I had not heard back so that is why I posted it to the forum. What I am waiting for is a Support ID so that I can send in the file anonymously for Ufile to verify as I seem to be stuck between the CRA and Ufile and the clients are frustrated why we cannot file their returns. We should not have to subject clients to mailing in their returns when they qualify to Netfile as mailing returns takes months to be processed and a refund issued. First, Ufile needs to look at why the error is happening just like my previous report about 10 days ago, where there actually was a bug with the Immigrant functionality. Thanks!
  3. The Head of the Family (HOF) has resided in Canada for a couple of years and has filed taxes previously. His partner immigrated in 2023. For the HOF we have done a regular return and then added his partner as his spouse along with the spouses immigration date and that it is their first time they have filed a tax return. I am a CVITP volunteer and I have been able to Authenticate both individuals that their names are all spelled correctly, SIN's are correct and so are their birthdates with Revenue Canada. When I try and file the HOF I receive an "Error Code(s) 16 According to the Canada Revenue Agency's records, your client is filing a tax return for the first time. Please indicate this in the software and include your client's first name, second name and last name." When trying to file his partners return, I receive a 110-B Result about Information not matching what was provided by Service Canada and to try it again. There are NO Error Codes given. I am aware (as I reported it) that there are outstanding issues with regards to immigrants and medical expenses and then also, according to the CRA, in other situations, the tax preparer needs to sometimes CHANGE the "First Tax Return" from YES (what it should be) to NO for immigrants to get their taxes filed. However in this case, this just does not make sense. The HOF is NOT an immigrant yet it is asking him to set his return as the first one he is submitting. The partner IS an immigrant and there is no information as to why his return is not filing. Keep in mind that all the spellings, SIN and birthdates have been verified. Already e-mailed through the tax return but unable to send in the return Anonymously so posting here in case anyone has the same issue and to also include the screen shots of the two errors when I try and Netfile each of the taxes. 4. Hi there! I am a CVITP volunteer and have just processed about 20 returns for a community care based organization and their clients. Almost all of the clients have T5007's OR OAS and CPP records. It does not seem to matter which type of client it is - under or over 65, they also all have T5's too however AutoFill does not download them. The value of the T5's are greater than $200 and the only line that has data on the T5's is line 13. It varies from $200 - $1200 at this point in time. Also the same Financial Institution issued them all. I caught this issue on the first few returns when the organization verified them and found the Investment Income missing - so the organization is gathering the T5's for each of their clients. Again, it is hard to depend on the software when these types of things happen and you are dealing with a senior client population who might not have all their receipts. It seems to be yet another bug in in Ufile that I have run into with standard tax return processing for the CVITP program. Is anyone aware of this or do I need to submit some examples through the 2023 software? I am not attaching any files due to privacy concerns. Please advise -
  5. Hi there - I am a CVITP filer in Vancouver and I need to ReFile 3 returns due to the rental credit - a mistake was made as it was not understood early on that the credit could be claimed by one person in the suite only instead of the 4 adults living in there. So 3 returns need to be ReFiled. Problem is I do not know the password for the file. Anyone know how to retrieve it or should I just call the CRA instead and fill out a T1-Adj form for each of the 3 people not entitled to the refund. Thanks again for your assistance! Lynda
  6. This was already done last night. See Request# UB3744842 The response back to me was to contact the CRA however it is NOT a CRA issue - it is a software issue that has been seen many times now.
  7. Do you have the security to be able to ReFile a return in the Windows Ufile software? I would NOT create a new file - that will mess up the CRA. The ReFile which can be done for both or just one person cycles you through the Interview questions for that person and then you are allowed to ReFile their return. I have not seen it affect their spouses return yet however you are playing in a dicey area when income splitting is involved. If you do not have the .u23 file to open and ReFile then you will have to do the ADJ form and have them submit it through their My Account (best) or mail it in (which takes a lot of time to be corrected). 8. Hi! I am a CVITP volunteer and the CVITP Help Desk and Revenue Canada cannot figure out how to solve this issue or why it is happening. I wish we could copy and paste the error messages in here! Instead I have done a screen shot and copied it in for your thoughts. I have verified his SIN is correct along with his birthdate and spelling of his name. I did get a Federal Authorization and the File was Accepted (for those of you who are Reps too) so that means that his base info at the CRA is correct. I have added a screen shot of his tax return with identifying information removed so you can see why I am puzzled about the fields mentioned and the fact that they DO add up where the Error 388 says that they do not as you can see. NOTE: The "Warning" is that I just have not reduced the length of an employer name - nothing too critical. Any help would be much appreciated! Or is this a known bug? Other people were having it at the tax clinic today but they could clear it by restarting the Ufile session. Nothing has worked for me. Lynda
