alexo
If I want to contribute my limit to RRSP but postpone claiming the tax deduction to a later year, will Ufile keep track of both the contribution room and the unused deductions for me? Thank you!
Geo123
Moderators 128 Posted just now · IP Hello alexo, As long as you are within the annual RSP limit you can limit the contribution and Ufile will keep track of it for you. In Ufile go to : >>RRSP or PRPP/VRSP deduction to use in 2022 RRSP or PRPP/VRSP deduction to use (leave blank to use all your contributions as a deduction) [ ]
alexo
Thank you for the reply, but that was not what I asked. My question was not whether Ufile allows it, but whether it will keep track of both the contribution room and the unused deductions for me. Just to clarify, let me present a hypothetical example: Let's say that for 2021 I had an RRSP contribution room of $10,000. I contribute, $6,000 and choose to deduct $3,000. If for my max contribution for 2022 is $12,000, my cumulative totals should be: Contribution room: $12,000 + ($10,000 - $6,000) = $16,000 Allowable deduction = $12,000 + ($10,000 - $3,000) = $19,000 Where would Ufile display those values for the 2022 year? I assume the first value ($16,000) would be in the "RRSP/PRPP deduction limit" field. But where would the second value ($19,000) be shown? Thank you! Geo123
Ufile will carry forward the unused deductions : >> Unused RRSP/PRPP contributions (2021 assessment) Complete this section only if an amount of Unused contributions is shown on your latest federal 2021 Notice of assessment or Notice of reassessment. *Do you have unused contributions from the first 60 days of 2022 ? *Unused contributions from the first 60 days of 2022 *Unused contributions from prior years
