Hello Alex44,

If you are 65 years of age or older at the beginning of the tax year and you live in Ontario on December 31 , you may claim this credit.

Before declaring the public transit costs, verify if the services are eligible by visiting the following link:

Note: Specialized transit services for persons with disabilities are eligible.

Only you can claim the cost of your public transportation services.

To claim this refundable credit, please follow the following procedure:

1. In the "Left side menu on the Interview tab" select the "Other deduction and credits".

2. On the right-hand side of the screen, click on the plus "+"icon to the right of the line "Schedule 1 line 364 - Amount for cost of public transit passes".

3. On the page generated on the right, go to "Ontario seniors' public transit tax credit (ON-479)" section.

You may be able to claim the Ontario seniors' public transit tax credit (OSPTTC) if:

you were at least 65 years old on the last day of the preceding taxation year;
you were a resident of Ontario at the end of the year; and
an amount was paid by or for you for the use of eligible public transit services in 2022.
Only you can claim the cost of your public transit services.
