2014 Capital Gains (Loss)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I found an old RBC Direct Investing document from 2014 pertaining to a loss from one of my investments ... I owned shares in a company that went bankrupt back in 2014, but never entered it in my 2014 Income Tax Filings.

Can I enter it on my 2023 Income Tax Filing, or is it too late?

Thank you,

Andy

You would need to file an amendment to 2014.

Generally, you can request a change only to a tax return from any of the 10 previous calendar years. For example, if you make a request in 2023, it must relate to the 2013 or later tax returns

Hello Andy Derix,

Generally, you can request a change only to a tax return from any of the 10 previous calendar years. For example, if you make a request in 2023, it must relate to the 2013 or later tax returns.

If you want to change a return for a year that does not appear in the list in the drop-down menu, send the request to your tax centre in writing.
