xctax
Hello, I realized recently that I didn't report the RRSP contributions for 2021 and 2022. I already read some Posts about this subject in this community, but there are still specific questions for my case. First, I'm wondering if I really need to Refile it because it is possible that Sunlife (my RRSP is deducted from every payment and invested in Sunlife) has already provided the documents to CRA and thus it's possible that CRA has already adjusted the RRSP contribution amount for my 2021 and 2022 tax file. But I have no way to be sure. That's why I put the question here. Second, about the Refile. My tax has been done with Ufile since tax year 2020. But for 2020 and 2021, I participated in the CRA community volunteer tax program and filed with E-FILE number for some people and myself. When I tried to Refile with Ufile, I can only do it for 2022 because I cannot load the file for 2020 and 2021. Do you have some ideas to my questions? Thank you
clw
You really have to report your RRSP contributions, the year they occurred. Unlike the TSFA, where the banks provide the info directly to the CRA, the only information the CRA has on record for your RRSP is the information you provided in previous income tax returns. You can easily check your contributions/deductions in ‘MyAccount’. So, you will have to file adjustments.
Geo123
Hello xctax, Given that you did not use UFIle but rather UFile CVITP, without access to the files, you will need to make a manual adjustment for each year effected, for CRA and RQ (if in Quebec). If you wish, you can also amend your tax return online by using "My Account" on the CRA website. https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/e-services/e-services-individuals/account-individuals.html For more information, please visit the following links: For CRA: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/change-your-return.html For Revenu Quebec: https://www.revenuquebec.ca/en/citizens/income-tax-return/correcting-an-error-or-omission/changing-an-income-tax-return-that-you-have-already-filed/
