Taxes for CPP
How do I pay CPP on self employed income? I see the calculation on Schedule 8 p4 and just want to ensure that amount of $7508.90 is included in the amount of tax I owe at the end?? If not, how does the CRA get my contribution? Geo123
Hello Taxes for CPP, CPP is calculated (and compulsory) by UFIle. In the tax return refer to Schedule 8 Contributions to the Canada Pension Plan With very few exceptions, every person over the age of 18 who works in Canada outside of Quebec and earns more than a minimum amount ($3,500 per year) must contribute to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). If you have an employer, you pay half the required contributions and your employer pays the other half. If you are self-employed, you make the whole contribution. https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/publicpensions/cpp/contributions.html Schedule 8 https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/tax-packages-years/general-income-tax-benefit-package/5000-s8.html

If you go to the Tax Return tab, then go to "Tax return summary with spouse", Line 42100 "CPP contributions payable on self-employment and other earnings" will show what you're paying. Note this is in UFile for Windows, though of course it's line 42100 everywhere.
