Warning Message: Line 44800 (CPP Overpayment) of Federal tax Return greater than $750 - What does this mean

Recommended Posts

In the Review Tab, I get a Warning Message stating that "Line 44800 (CPP Overpayment) of Federal tax Return greater than $750. Verify the information slips..."

It is not showing as an ERROR, but a WARNING. What does this mean? Can I still submit my Tax Return as-is to CRA? Or do I need to correct something or fill some additional form?

I checked the T4 and that amount in Box 16 (Employee CPP Contribution) shows an amount greater than $750 (it is actually $6173.11).  What do I need to do.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello Sauga24,

If you received a warning, it will not prevent you from NetFIling your tax return. A warning is merely a message to let you know there may have been a data entry error.

Any overpayment  to CPP will be refunded to you on line 44800. In this case, you may ignore the message and proceed to NetFile your tax return.
