  1. In Interview setup, go to Pension income, click on the blue arrow and select Split pension income.
  2. In Interview setup, go to Pension and click the blue arrow. Pick split pension income. Set up what you want there. Before doing this, however, calculate the total tax payable by yourself and spouse with MaxBack. Do the same after setting what you want. I think you'll find that the total tax burden is less with MaxBack.

  8. It's your choice. Easiest to report it in the current (2021) return assuming you have RRSP limit room available.
  9. The first 60 days of 2021 is part of the 2020 RRSP season. You could have claimed it last year. You can file an adjustment or claim it next year. Contributions don't have to be claimed in the year they are made.
  10. Yes, you'll receive quarterly payments instead of a tax credit.

Investment income is divided by the proportions contributed by spouses. If one provided 30% of the funds for investment and the other 70%, then that is how it is supposed to be declared. Most filers report 50-50 and don't worry about audits. (I confess to doing the latter). The Ufile T5 form has a question about dividing the income.

Pick Medical expenses If you have a 12 month year that doesn't end Dec. 31, 2021, also select Last date and fill it in.
  16. If you are filing from AB, SK, MB or ON, the CAI is not claimed on the tax return. Instead, you'll receive quarterly payments.
