Deceased in 2021 but can’t use Ufile for 2020

It says "for a person who passes away before April 1 2020. -
Are you sure splitting is not beneficial? Compare total tax before and after split. It gets complicated because of OAS and age credit clawbacks.

I don't follow why a date of death is required for a 2020 return. -
Filing for 2020 return for a deceased taxpayer and surviving spouse
Curmudgeon replied to Marilou's topic in 2020
There are two electronic filing systems: Netfiling and Efiling. Tax professionals use Efiling, individuals on software like UFile, Netfile. The CRA does not allow final returns to be Netfiled. You don't have to print out the complete return, only those pages that have the designation at the top of the page. Then mail them in. -
Medical School Student Travelling or Hotel Lodging Expenses
Curmudgeon replied to Siward's topic in Technical questions
Tip 01 in your link seems to apply to medical residents, not students. -
The detailed information was given in your foreign tax return. Don't report the income twice. Make sure, though, you have included a foreign exchange rate in the foreign rental form so it is reported in $Cdn.
-
In Interview setup go down to Investment income and expenses, and click the blue dot on Foreign income or foreign property and generate the Foreign rental income form.

Married in 2020, ineligible to NETFILE, spouse income is NOT NIL

Use the UFile Support assistent in Help. You might get a response. Otherwise, my idea bank has run empty. -
You will be credited for the US tax deducted, i.e., it will be deducted from Cdn tax owing. Can't get more credit than that.

Just wanted to confirm that the return information looks like what you entered, no data errors. I'm running out of ideas. On the left side menu go down to controls. Go to the bottom of the controls form and put in No in the first two boxes and see what happens after clicking Next. -

Did you add your son-in-law to your family file. If you do this, he has to be a dependent and is not recognized as your daughter's spouse. They need their own file. -

In the Spouse Interview section, do you have it set to Complete information? -
Ufile can't find your .u20? It will be where Ufile stored it unless you moved it.

Curmudgeon replied to Robert18's topic in Credits and deductions
If nothing works, contact the technical people and explain how expiring credits are not being applied first. There may be a quick fix. -

So nothing is showing up on line 31900 on the return? -
Individuals earning $25,000 or less.

What to do is in Interview setup, Investment income and expenses, select Foreign income and property, Income from foreign dividends. Fill in the first 5 boxes. This assumes that you are not filing a US tax return.
-
Are you receiving this information on a t-slip? Normally US dividends are not income exempt unless the investment is in a RRSP. If it is on a t-slip, enter the information and you will get a tax deduction for the foreign tax paid.
-
You enter the number of days Covid forced you to work at home. If it was 200 or more days, then you'll get a $400 deduction.
-
In the Interview Setup check off Tax return for a deceased person in her return. Deleting the CRA account has nothing to do with it. Also, in Identification make sure that the province showing is the province where death occured.

What you should have done is do your and your wife's returns in Ufile, noting that it is a final return for your wife. Then print out her return and mail that. You could repeat that in 2020 Ufile but don't send in or print anything. Then you can forward into 2021.
