keith B Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 I received 2 T3 info slips after netfiling. I know I need to request an adjustment using ADJ form. In this case, the couple elected pension splitting and shared donations. I do not want to affect one spouse's return, only the person with the additional income. There are sufficient c/f donations to ensure the refund result is the same. I have already saved the pdf file so know what the original filing result was. Do I need to create a new file so as to not impact the fact that pension splitting and donation sharing was done? Quote
lmnei Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 Do you have the security to be able to ReFile a return in the Windows Ufile software? I would NOT create a new file - that will mess up the CRA. The ReFile which can be done for both or just one person cycles you through the Interview questions for that person and then you are allowed to ReFile their return. I have not seen it affect their spouses return yet however you are playing in a dicey area when income splitting is involved. If you do not have the .u23 file to open and ReFile then you will have to do the ADJ form and have them submit it through their My Account (best) or mail it in (which takes a lot of time to be corrected).
