  6. Hello bhumber, Section 118(1)(b) of the Income Tax Act allows a separated person living as a single individual to claim a tax credit for a dependent child living with them. However there are special considerations when it comes to the child support, ie you make child support payments for a child and the other parent does not, you cannot claim an amount for an eligible dependant. It is best to check with the CRA. https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/support-payments/shared-custody-amount-eligible-dependant.html

  22. Hello r.huang3, Acquisition price = Adjusted cost base of the property < - - - Enter ACB related to the sale FYI - an example : You have a capital gain when you sell, or are considered to have sold, a capital property for more than the total of its ACB and the outlays and expenses incurred to sell the property. Example In 2022, Mario sold 400 shares of XYZ Public Corporation of Canada for $6,500. He received the full amount of the proceeds of disposition at the time of the sale and paid a commission of $60. The ACB of the shares is $4,000. Mario calculates his capital gain as follows: Proceeds of disposition $6,500 Adjusted cost base $4,000 Outlays and expenses on disposition + $60C = $4,060− 4,060 Capital gain (line A minus line D) = $2,440 https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/publications/t4037/capital-gains.html#P279_29831
  23. Hello David Vincent, Try filing without the HST number.
  24. If you cannot download / AFR (AutoFill Return) not responsive. It could be several things: The government website is very busy - try again later. If logging in with “Sign-in Partner login” try “CRA sign-in” (using CRA MyAccount). You should also verify with the CRA if the account log-on is valid. • Your antivirus or firewall is preventing the download - temporarily disable to download. • Could be your Internet Service Provider - then you need to restart the modem (or contact your ISP) • Check computer time and date and language so the compute can synchronize with the CRA. • Make sure your account access is up to date. • If you have Windows 10 or 11, download “Microsoft Edge Webviewer” at the following link (it may not have been bundled in your version): https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?Linkid=2124703 • Use the most recent version of the “Edge” browser. Check EDGE browser Settings: 1. Type "Internet options" in the Windows search menu. 2. Click "Internet Options". 3. Click on "Advanced" tab. 4. Scroll to the Security section, then check Use TLS 1.2. 5. Click OK, then close Edge. TLS v1.2 is enabled on the next start of Edge. Of note can also be effected by : Internet speed, computer memory/speed , network latency, CRA Server loads, anti-virus, firewall and the data within the download file.
