  1. Hello LisaDoug, Also, since January 1, 2017, an eligible student is an individual who is more than 16 years of age before the end of the year who is enrolled in a university, college or other post-secondary institution. To qualify, the fees you paid to attend each educational institution must be more than $100. Tuition fees must be recorded in the file of the student. Please follow the steps below: 1. On the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab", select "Interview setup". 2. On the page "Interview setup", go to the "Student" group, check the box "Tuition, education, textbook, student loans" as well as any other groups needed to complete your tax return and click "Next" at the bottom of the page. 3. Return to the "Left-side menu on the Interview tab" and select the item "Tuition, education, student loans". 4. On the screen to your right click on the plus sign "+" icon to the right of the line "Tuition amounts* (line 32300)". 5. On the page that appears, in the section "Tuition, education, textbook amounts (T2202, TL11A, TL11C)", go to the line "Eligible tuition fees paid to Canadian educational institutions for 2019 (enter description in the first field and the amount in the $ field)". If you attended more than one establishment, click on the plus sign "+" on your right and a new field will be added. 6. Enter the number of months of full-time or part-time postsecondary education, if any, based on the information on your T2202 slip. In addition, this information will be included on Schedule 11. The program will generate federal Schedule 11 to determine tuition fees. For more information about tuition fees, including tuition transfer and deferral, please visit: For the CRA: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/forms/t2202.html https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/publications/p105.html https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/publications/rc4654.html Remember that according to CRA rules, you must claim the amounts first on your own federal return, to reduce the tax payable. Please note that you can carry forward the surplus to a future year or transfer it to a parent or grandparent. To do this, go to the line "Treatment of unused tuition, education and textbook amounts" and in the field to your right, choose the option that suits you.

  4. Hello lois finch, Your unique Access code can be found on your Notice of Assessment (NOA) for a previous tax year. This eight-character Access code is made up of numbers and letters and is located on the right side of your NOA. The placement and labelling of the Access code differs slightly depending on the version of the NOA you are looking at, but will always be on the right side of the NOA. On the paper version of your NOA as well as the PDF version in My Account, the Access code is not labelled, but can be found directly underneath the Date issued at the top right of the page. If you are viewing your NOA in My Account or using the Express NOA service in certified tax software, the Access code is found directly under the Notice details box at the top right of the page. While this Access code is not mandatory, if you do not enter your Access code, you will not be able to use any information from your 2022 tax return when confirming your identity with the Canada Revenue
  5. Hello Narbo, If you cannot download / AFR (AutoFill Return) not responsive. It could be several things: The government website is very busy - try again later. If logging in with “Sign-in Partner login” try “CRA sign-in” (using CRA MyAccount). You should also verify with the CRA if the account log-on is valid. • Your antivirus or firewall is preventing the download - temporarily disable to download. • Could be your Internet Service Provider - then you need to restart the modem (or contact your ISP) • Check computer time and date and language so the compute can synchronize with the CRA. • Make sure your account access is up to date. • If you have Windows 10 or 11, download “Microsoft Edge Webviewer” at the following link (it may not have been bundled in your version): https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?Linkid=2124703 • Use the most recent version of the “Edge” browser. Check EDGE browser Settings: 1. Type "Internet options" in the Windows search menu. 2. Click "Internet Options". 3. Click on "Advanced" tab. 4. Scroll to the Security section, then check Use TLS 1.2. 5. Click OK, then close Edge. TLS v1.2 is enabled on the next start of Edge. Of note can also be effected by : Internet speed, computer memory/speed , network latency, CRA Server loads, anti-virus, firewall and the data within the download file.
  6. Hello Maye You should contact your CVITP coordinator. The COIN remains the same.
  7. Hello macbain, Please be advised that for that purposes of downloading your T5008 slips for this tax season we have implemented a maximum download of 50 - 55 T5008 slips. This is due to the very heavy volume load, and the T5008 slips may be incomplete. Example: missing the ACB /cost/book value.Errors may also arise due to downloading of corrupted records, example, null entries. Our recommendation is to enter only one entry manually from your recap report or the Capital gains realized report you receive from your broker. Please note that it is not necessary to download all your T5008 slips. One manual entry of the total amount showing the Proceeds of disposition and the cost / book value is sufficient.Note that even if you download all the T5008 slips, only the total amount is sent to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and if applicable Revenu Québec. The government agencies have already received copies of these slips and it is not necessary to itemize them in the software.Thank you for your understanding.

  15. Hello David Vincent, NOTE : this requirement will be removed by the CRA. The current release of the software should only give a warning that this field is missing (not an error) Note: the HST number of the facility can be located on your invoice. The HST number must be in the format accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) example: 123456789RT0001.
  16. Hello avb, You should shorten the description to 40 characters. Name and address of facility: The field length is 40 chars – this is a CRA limitation It is due to the electronic file transfer field length having a maximum as well as the actual form. We have no control over this.
  17. Hello Greg Homer, IMMEDIATE EXPENSING FOR UNINCORPORATED BUSINESS DIEP (Designated Immediate Expensing Property) Immediate expensing and CCA are optional deductions from CRA’s perspective. For eligible property acquired and available for use from January 1, 2022, until December 31, 2024. Designated Immediate Expensing Property (“DIEP”) generally includes all depreciable capital property, other than property included in Capital Cost Allowance (CCA) classes 1 to 6, 14.1, 17, 47, 49 and 51. In addition, DIEP must meet EITHER of the following conditions: • The property has not been used for any purpose before it was acquired by the eligible person AND is not a property for which CCA was claimed by any person or partnership before the property was acquired OR • The property was not transferred on a rollover basis OR acquired from a non-arm’s length party. The maximum deduction is equal to the lesser of: • The immediate expensing limit for the taxation year ($1.5 million subject to the allocation requirements among the associated group and pro-rated for short taxation year) • The UCC of the DIEP before claiming any CCA deductions for the year. If the business is operated personally or in a partnership, immediate expensing cannot be used to create or increase a loss, but it can be used to reduce taxable income of the business in which the property is used to zero. In many cases an individual taxpayer would want to make use of the lowest tax brackets and their personal tax credits, so it may be prudent not to claim all of the immediate expense deduction that is available. If an asset is bought and sold in the same taxation year the property will not qualify as a DIEP. To claim, “Immediate expensing”, please follow the steps below: 1. In your business statement, either a T2125 Statement of Business or Professional Activities or in your T776 Statement of Real Estate Rentals, select your CCA category. 2. Enter the asset as a new addition under the heading: a. “Dates (dd-mm-yyyy), Description and amount of capital additions (other than AIIP)” or b. “Dates (dd-mm-yyyy), Description and amount of capital additions of AIIP” 3. On the line “Limit the eligible amount for immediate expensing of capital additions (other than AIIP), or on the line ““Limit the eligible amount for immediate expensing of capital additions of AIIP”, enter the amount you wish to claim for your immediate expense. All capital additions made after December 31, 2021 will be considered eligible for immediate expensing. Please enter $0 within the addition type limit if you do not want to claim the immediate expensing. 4. The amount will appear in column 9 of Area A and on line 9936 of your business statement. Note: the amount claimed will be the lesser of column 9 and column 18 of Area A of the CCA Class. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2022/02/expansion-of-the-eligibility-for-tax-support-for-business-investments.html You must also complete the DIEP Agreement – even if you are the sole owner and proprietor Use this page if you are an eligible person or partnership Example – sole propreitor Agreement between associated eligible persons or partnerships (EPOPs) Federal *Are you associated in the fiscal period with one or more EPOPs with which you have entered into an agreement under subsection 1104(3.3) of the Regulations? >>Yes Select the type of EPOP Applicant person Percentage of immediate expensing limit assigned to each associated eligible person or partnership (EPOP) 100% Signing date and title or position of signing officer 01-01-2022 Owner For residents of Quebec Form TP-130.AD-V will be generated in your tax return. The amount will appear on line 460 of your TP-80 Business or Professional Income and Expenses. The amount claimed will appear on line 393 of your TP-128 Income and Expenses Respecting the Rental of immovable property. For more information on this topic, please visit the website below: https://www.revenuquebec.ca/en/businesses/income-tax/partnerships-and-income-tax/principal-changes-for-2022-in-the-partnership-information-return/ https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2022/02/expansion-of-the-eligibility-for-tax-support-for-business-investments.html   Déduction pour amortissement à l'égard d'un bien relatif à la passation en charges immédiate désigné. 19. Hello Display Name, When Quebec residents download BOTH their CRA tax slips using CRA auto fill (AFR) as well as their Quebec slips using Tax Data Download (TDD), some documents may be generated in duplicates. Why will some data be duplicated while others won't be? The reason why this data is duplicated is that the issuer has used two different names, one for the federal slip and another for the Quebec slip. Tax slips issuers are not required to register the same name for the federal and Quebec slips. For example, a federal T3 slip from "Royal Bank of Canada" and an RL-16 slip are issued by the same issuer, but writing under a slightly different name as "RBC Banque Royale". UFile will read two different names and therefore the federal slip will be accepted as well as the Quebec slip. Therefore, the program will generate duplicate data for certain income items. This situation will unfortunately result in amounts greater than the actual amounts, in turn generating duplicate income amounts and consequently more tax payable? We recommend that all users thoroughly check their federal return and Quebec to note these duplicates, as this will affect the tax return. Also, we recommend you to use only one data download method, whether it is the CRA's (AFR) or Revenu Québec's (TDD). UFile users must manually delete the duplicate page and enter the missing data manually on the other page.
